So I asked ChatGPT to write a summary of Montana State football for the 2025 season and here's what it gave me. This is a hell of a lot better than whatever the author of that article used!

Here’s an updated preview for the 2025 Montana State Bobcats football season, covering key storylines, roster changes, expectations, and outlook heading into the season:

Season Outlook & Preseason Expectations
Montana State enters the 2025 season as the clear favorites in the Big Sky Conference, topping both the preseason coaches' and media polls with multiple first-place votes in each

.

The Bobcats are also ranked No. 2 in the national FCS preseason Top 25, reflecting expectations for continued dominance

Roster Turnover & Key Additions
Departures
The Bobcats face significant turnover, losing 15 starters to the NFL or transfers—including Walter Payton Award winner quarterback Tommy Mellott, standout RB Scottre Humphrey, and several key offensive linemen

.

Returning Core
Despite departures, MSU retains 21 players with at least 200 snaps from 2024—the second-most in the Big Sky
SI
.

The offensive line remains a strength, with returning starters Titan Fleischmann, Burke Mastel, and JT Reed anchoring what is projected to be one of the top lines in the FCS

.

At running back, freshman All-American Adam Jones returns to lead a deep backfield that includes Julius Davis and Jared White, offering explosive potential

Quarterback Competition
The QB position is wide open. Likely candidates include Stanford transfer Justin Lamson, along with returning sophomores Chance Wilson and Patrick Duchien, plus promising freshman River Warren and Grant Vigen

Lamson brings experience and dual-threat capability, making him a strong contender for a starting role

Transfers In
Key transfer additions include QB Justin Lamson (Stanford), WR Chris Long (Rutgers), DB Bryson Parker (Nevada), and DB Ife Ohalete (Blinn College)

.

Defense & Special Teams
The defensive front remains formidable, with returners Kenneth Eiden IV, Paul Brott, and Zac Crews anchoring a strong line. Linebacker depth is also solid, led by Neil Daily and Bryce Grebe

The secondary faces a major rebuild, with all starting DBs from last year gone. Returning contributors include Tayden Gray and Caden Dowler, and newcomer Bryson Parker bolsters the secondary

Special Teams return the dynamic punt returner Taco Dowler, a weapon once again likely to shine

Probably because our practice fields don't have goal posts lol
The boys were in the stadium today. Lamson looks great. WR's were catching everything.
Is he getting QB1 reps? Or is that not a thing at this point yet
Lamson is outperforming the rest of the QB room. They’re still splitting reps. I think the whole team is.

The WR from Rutgers is killing it.

One of the big surprises has been Vigen at QB.

Marsh is going to rotate in a lot at DT this year.

Lots of changes on offense but don’t expect to see much of it vs Oregon.
Who would be a comparable for where Lamson is at? His style seemed comparable to Chambers from the video I’ve seen.
They aren’t going to run him as much as Chambers or Mellott. Probably more Lulay and McGhee.
Yeah, I’d say more like Lulay in terms of build and style. I don’t think he has McGhee’s accuracy but he’s about a carbon copy of Lulay physically. If he has his clutch play ability it would be huge.

I think he's bigger than Lulay. Travis was only about 208 or so. He played in the CFL at 216.

I was quite a bit younger when Lulay played, but Lamson looks a fair amount bigger than Lulay did when he was here. 🤷‍♂️

Grace did great! Can you even image supreme leader bobbie approving something like this? Not in a million years. The media is the enemy of the people over that west side sh!thole.

He gave it a run, but Donny Long still holds the record for shortest tenure as a Bobcat.

Huge week. Big (closed) scrimmage Saturday. I’m hearing Dowler and Taki are looking really good, not just fast but technically strong.
