Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Jody Owens interview today is really good. He’s going to be a great head coach someday

Sounds more and more like Lamson is going to be QB1. What are everyone’s thoughts on this? His passing numbers in college are rough. Is that him or was it more of a byproduct of his teams? He was a good passer in high school but he was on a good team. I think his mobility and running ability look good.

Re: Fall Camp
MSU will be able to win a lot of games this year with Lamson at QB given the talent around him especially at RB and OL. But how good he can be in the passing game will likely be a very significant determining factor as to whether MSU has a legitimate shot at winning the national championship this year, and we'll all just have to wait and see what the answer to that question is! I wouldn't put too much stock in his Stanford stats since he'll have a far better team around him at MSU than he did there compared to the level of competition he'll be facing after the Oregon game.iaafan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 8:34 amSounds more and more like Lamson is going to be QB1. Re: Fall Camp
I can’t argue with that. I think MSU has a great chance to have its deepest and most well-rounded team of the recent past this year. I don’t expect Lamson to be Tommy but he needs to be better than Rovig. I think he runs better than Tucker. Tucker was a 135 passer and was essentially tied for fifth in the league. If Lamson can hit that mark, I think it’ll be a fun season.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 8:49 amMSU will be able to win a lot of games this year with Lamson at QB given the talent around him especially at RB and OL. Lamson l, I think will be fine. I think his passing is a a byproduct of being on terrible Stanford teams. Any game real I have seen the quarterback has had zero time to pass and is running for their life. He only had 130 some attempts at Stanford, I’d say he was about 50% and I’d say a majority of those, he was scrambling. He was two years left, and I actually think he will ‘wow’ us.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 8:49 amMSU will be able to win a lot of games this year with Lamson at QB given the talent around him especially at RB and OL. I agree, Lamson seems to be separating himself to be the starter. Also, I think it is a close battle between Wilson and Duchein as the backup. Patrick has looked very good.

Brother. He’s going to be a better running QB than anybody else on the roster.

I think I’ve said this in another thread before, but I really believe this team will be better than last year. More balanced, better suited to attack teams. I’m very high on Lamson, maybe too high, but I think we upgraded at QB. I’m gonna run away after that comment lol

Where is everyone hearing that Lamson is separating himself from?
Hating the griz since 02.

Presumably from the QB Club members who get to go watch practices. Vigen's interview is also telling, he barely mentions Wilson and Duchien and then talks for a minute or so about how well Lamson has done to integrate himself within the team over the summer.

I don't think we are going to be better at QB-- but I see no reason why we're not going to be quite good.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 1:19 pmI think I’ve said this in another thread before, but I really believe this team will be better than last year. This job was always going to be Lamson's, He beat out a number of highly touted QBs for playing time at Stanford-- his numbers there weren't great because the rest of the team was terrible. But the QBs were not the problem. Ashton Daniels, who he split time with at Stanford, had bad numbers there but was eagerly accepted by Auburn as a Transfer QB. I'll be surprised if Lamson can put up numbers like Tommy, but the gap between (then) Power 5 and FCS is pretty large. Lamson is going to be way better than Rovig and probably good enough to win a title with if the rest of the team gels around him.

If that isn't a Egriz caliber comment I don't know what is.
