Watching games on TV

Post by nanacat » Tue Aug 12, 2025 4:45 pm

Just saw this article and it might be a nice option for those who don't have subscriptions that include all channels, (like me).

Great idea, the only issue here though is that according to their website Sling TV doesn't include ESPN, the Big 10 Network, or any local channels on which all of MSU's games will be broadcast this year.

It is. But that’s just one game. All the other games can be watched on ESPN plus. I don’t see that mentioned in the Sling offer? ESPN Plus also covers virtually every cat women and men basketball games among other sports as well.

I was mistaken, when I was on the Sling website yesterday the package I was looking at didn't show ESPN/ESPN2 as among the included channels. Looking again, they do have other packages that do include those. So this could definitely be a good way to watch the UC Davis game for relatively cheap!

For those unaware, if you have certain Verizon Wireless plans, ESPN+, Disney+ and Hulu are included for the life of the plan.

Works great for Bobcat and BSC football!

Yes, I just don't seem to be able to find the time to watch during BB season...

I also can't recommend just having ESPN+ enough. Every MSU conference game, and most OOC games (all home games and any road games with ESPN+ contracts), you can also tune into other BSC games as well as MVFC and Ivy League, among others, as well as the FCS playoffs. Plus any ABC national game, and ESPN makes other games available. I honestly love the service, for how much flack ESPN gets, ESPN+ honestly kicks ass

I’m a huge fan of ESPN+. I ‘record’ almost every playoff contender throughout the season. Once the playoff field is set, I’ll peak at various teams and delete all the other teams that didn’t make the cut.

It’s also fun to watch when those bums over the hill lose.

Yep, they may be close to a sportscasting cartel, but they do provide a darn good streaming service/platform/user experience. Whoda thunk 25 years ago we could watch the Bobcats play live on our phone on the top of a mountain? Or boating on our favorite lake? Or in a tree stand during bow hunting season?

When I moved out of Montana for my first job in 2007, I flew back to Montana with my desktop computer packed away in my checked luggage, set up a slingbox on my buddy's cable package and connected it to my desktop, just so I could watch all the games from the Midwest. That was cutting edge tech at the time. My how far we've come not even two decades later...

Piggy backing off this thread, I wanted to let everyone know that with ESPN's new streaming service things are a little bit different this year than it has been in the past. ESPN+ has been renamed as ESPN Select. Everything about it after that should remain the same, you still get the same programming and it should cost $12 a month.

On top of that, ESPN has a new streaming service called ESPN Unlimited that gives you access to all of ESPN's live programming (like whatever is on the main ESPN channel, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network, SEC Network, etc.) and is currently $30 a month and includes a year's subscription to Hulu and Disney+ if you sign up to ESPN Unlimited for a year.

This is all to the best of my understanding.

Confused? Then I did my job right! :) Read more here: https://www.today.com/news/sports/espn- ... rcna226254
