Eh, if it’s not going to be called, you’re hurting your team by not coaching it. Almost cost MSU the championship.Bobcat Sig wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:38 pmBecause we’re better than thatPapaG wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:38 pmSeems like that happened all playoffs. I’d like to get Vigen’s take on what was happening because that was worse than bad high school ball by the offense all playoffs. I didn’t see him arguing much about the calls.

This is probably one of the most significant wins in bobcat history. Not only because it was a national championship, but because of who we beat. We were playing the hottest team in the playoffs. This was a team that was playing loose and with confidence. Everything was clicking for them in their victories. The guts and resilience that the Cats showed, especially in the second half, was indicative of the season. Look at the punches they took during games but they were able to rebound from it. You can blame players and/or coaches but if you really step back and think about our opponent you can't help but see an amazing victory.

The penalty doesn’t fit the crime. It isn’t whatever they call it, it’s unsportsmanlike conduct and should be 15 yards and a second penalty should be ejection. Third eject the head coach and player.

The ISU OL was incredibly good. I’m not sure how they only scored 21 vs SELA, 7 vs SIU. The whole team revolved around them.hokeyfine wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:45 pmThis is probably one of the most significant wins in bobcat history. The defense wasn’t very good and MSU really hurt itself on the first drive of the second half and by getting baited, or not, into 9(?) false starts. They overcame at least five of them to get in the end zone.

and that's my whole point. whether they were baited or not it wasn't called by the ref's, but they were able to have the resilience to overcome it.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:52 pmThe ISU OL was incredibly good. The false starts have been an issue all season, not just in the playoffs. The (out of state) playoff opponents just studied the film and found a weakness and exploited it.

SFA being penalized for impersonating(?) the snap count (or whatever it’s called) opens the door to other teams doing the same. I saw MSU players pointing that out last night but it was never called.

Don't forget giving to the Bobcat Club. Scholarships and Cost of Attendance are the basis for everything here and just giving what you are "required" to give for your seats isn't going to keep covering those costs. The more the Bobcat Club covers, the less that has to come out of other parts of the AD budget and can be used for other areas to improve all programs.

Re: All that matters
I agree that likely explained a majority of the false starts but that doesn't change the fact that the entire OL was jumpy all season and playoff coaches probably realized we were ripe for a little exploitation. If we had cleaned it up on our end during the regular season our opponents probably wouldn't have tried it, at least to the extent they did, and it also wouldn't have been as successful.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 2:50 pmThank you. Re: All that matters
I agree OC and Vigen didn't adjust when ISU brought pressure. I disagree on not running due to penalties. If you gain 8 on 1st down and have 2nd and 2, then get penalty to be 2nd and 7. Should be able to still run on 2nd. If you get 8 like 1st down you earned another. If you get 4 it is still a manageable 3rd. 1st half Lamson is 12/13 it didn't matter. 2nd half incomplete several times on that 2nd and 7.SonomaCat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:29 pmHard to do that when we had a five yard penalty on virtually every second and short.tetoncat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 05, 2026 10:32 pmInitial game an for 1st half was great. All that matters is that we won!!! But I thought it was interesting that ISU got to this game by coming back and beating NDSU by one point, and then the Cats come back from being behind and win the Natty by one point.
Credit ISU, they were tough. That dang #5 for them was a bulldozer. Kind of reminded me of Ifanse where he'd push for that extra yard or two. But they just really had no answer for our receivers. I'm hoping that snap counts and such get worked on next year, as those false starts nearly killed the Cats, and that's really inexcusable.
2026 (?) NATIONAL CHAMPS!!! So awesome!!

They were also very good at holding. What does it take for some ref crews to call a holding?
