That IS NOT a lame excuse. Thanks for what you do!mslacatfan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 8:13 amSorry, I’m getting to it soon. And yes, my lame excuse is that my brain was not working yet from the 3 day bender in Nashville.
Regarding the marsh thing- I’m just putting whatever was recorded in the “official” stats and records….. I agree that it should not have been 90 yards, but that is what they marked it as….

Taco's exposure is unreal right now...I feel like he has a great shot at the NFL even if he is undersized.

A few additional stats I found interesting:
14 players ran the ball and 10 of them scored rushing touchdowns. Only 4 of them were RBs.
18 players caught a pass and 12 of them scored receiving touchdowns.
21 players scored a touchdown, including 5 D/ST players.

Showing pressure on fourth down in overtime. They bring pressure. Lamson throws...Endzone! Caught! TOUCHDOWN!!! Taco Dowler!
And a kick away from a championship.
Here we go. Miles Sansted. Snap, hold, kick, Up, GOOOOD!! FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Even 16 offensive players is insane. 5 D/ST players is beyond insane.catgrad05 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 7:24 pm21 players scoring a touchdown is insanecoloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 1:05 pmA few additional stats I found interesting:

We played 16 games and those numbers would be crazy in a 32 game season.

While it is 5 D/ST players that scored TDs, it does add up to 6 TDs. Absolutely amazing!
C Dowler 2 int TDs Grebe 1 Marsh 1
Brock blocked punt TD
T Dowler 1 punt return TD

Re: 2025 Record Watch- Final
I actually didn't count Taco in the D/ST list because he's already counted as an offensive player. The 5th D/ST is Frokjer on the fake punt TD against EWU.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 8:02 pmThanks for breaking that down, it was very interesting.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 7:26 pmEven 16 offensive players is insane. 5 D/ST players is beyond insane.catgrad05 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 7:24 pm21 players scoring a touchdown is insanecoloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 1:05 pmA few additional stats I found interesting:

Oh, Good point on Frokjer. I had him down as a rushing TD but yeah the snap was in field goal formation. He popped up from his holder position and took off for the TD.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 8:08 pmI actually didn't count Taco in the D/ST list because he's already counted as an offensive player. For Taco I have him as 1 rushing, 7 receiving, and 1 punt return TDs.
That should make the count 6 D/ST players that scored a TD and 7 total D/ST TDs.
I hope next year the team can add in a fake punt and a kick return for TDs as well.
I'm not greedy, I'm aggressively hopeful.

Tommy Mellott was a big media contributor on the local news coverage this year as the team made their preparations. I couldn't help but notice the look of angst on his face sometimes and the sound in his voice that maybe made it a little tough for him to cover the team. I am sure he was super stoked for his former teammates to finally bring that title home, but he had to have been running back all those moments and what-ifs in his mind...The Butcher wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 8:41 amWhen you look at all the records from the 2024 season... damn the Cats should be a repeat national champs this year!

I agree. At the end of the Championship game when he was part of the SWX broadcast crew in Nashville, he kept staring off to the side for a long time. I could only think he was wishing he could be there with his teammates celebrating rather than holding a microphone. Tommy and his teammates were the integral part in paving the way for this team to win the Natty.
