Sticking up for Broadcasters here... Riley is just like Keaton. He is the voice of the griz, just like Keaton is the voice of the Bobcats. The quote he put out is factual (especially considering who Cats have out right now). Is it a little pre-mature to say? Sure, but he is broadcasting for his fan base, and they don't want to hear "This could maybe be the championship preview, depending on how MSU does, and if Portland State can keep winning, as well as stay healthy".

Had no awareness of your injury situation. Just here to comment that it’s a bid weird to call Riley on this for doing his job and hyping a matchup involving the school he is paid to represent. Both the Griz and the Cats have good basketball teams this year, and that bodes well for the conference. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. And yes, I did snap back at some of the cockiness in here to remind you of the state of both of our basketball programs. It seems one game made you forget 30.

I think its kind of arrogant for us to decide today that the griz won't be in the championship and we will. I don't know what will happen. Its not kike we have an insane lead in the standings.

But, not as arrogant as a team who just lost to us...
And, I do not ever assume we will be in the championship.. i'm a bobcat fan.
Our road to even winning 50 percent of our remaining games just got a lot more difficult, but i'm pulling for them and know they can do it.

The entire point of this thread is that the gris are doing just that. No one in Cat blue and gold is saying this, not Keaton nor is any other team for that matter. But Riley is. He didn't say "what could be a preview" or "a matchup featuring 2 of the favorites". He literally said "likely matchup". Its hubris on steroids especially considering the gris are not top 2 in the conference, just lost to the rival a week before, and lost at home to Tech.

Cats have won the conference auto bid for the last 3 of 4 years. How many have the Gris won? Things that make you go hmmmm…..Grizzlies2026 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:42 pmNot saying I agree, this is essentially a 3 team race at this stage (PSU, MSU, UM). But in what world are you living in? Griz hoops has won 24 of the last 30 meetings. In the hoops world, we’ve run not only this rivalry but this conference this century. It’s great to see you guys having a competitive roster again, but let’s not pretend here.

Correct. But there have been people jumping in, talking that its a forgone conclusion its going to be us. They're doing exactly what Riley is doing. With us only having a game lead. I hope I'm wrong but I see us likely losing to the griz in Missoula valentine's day weekend. Then we will be even if both have won all games from now up to that point.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 8:48 amThe entire point of this thread is that the gris are doing just that. Where in this thread has anyone been talking like it's a foregone conclusion that MSU will make the championship game?lutecat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 28, 2026 10:06 amCorrect. One is a fan forum and one is a broadcaster. He should be laying out the possibilitieslutecat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 28, 2026 10:06 amCorrect.
