Sure do hate that pay wall. Not inclined to give Lee Enterprises any money, even though I would like to read that article.

2027 is a very deep QB class, unless he has an absolute monster senior year I'd say a UDFA/tryout camp opportunity is significantly more likely than being drafted. But I do think he'll get a shot to show what he can do at the next level!

He's not an NFL prospect. Maybe with further development he'll get a slight chance, but right now, he's not there. If you took offense to what I said, I apologize.

@BelligerentBobcat isn't wrong. And no one has been higher on Lamson than him, going back to August!

We all know opinions are like.....well.....uh.....everyone has an opinion and predictions and we are sometimes right and sometimes wrong. All you have to do is look back at former BN posts to see that fact.

Here is one of my past posts. Yeah, I was pretty off on that one.

Image

Here is one of Tomcats past posts. Well, he wasn't wrong, D'Amato did start, but not for the Cats.

Image

Here is one of Belligerants past posts. Three of those other guys did make NFL rosters and two are still there.

Image

The point is he is just stating an opinion and we shouldn't be upset about it, because he may just be wrong, just like we all are.

My problem is how certain people “share” their opinions. Quite frankly, I think a kid who has been an outstanding player and representative of the program deserves some respect in such discussions. Maybe he is not an ideal NFL prospect based on his measurables, but to be downright douchey is not acceptable. If someone comments on how bad a particular poster is, people have a mental come apart. But that treatment is acceptable towards players? Damn. We can do better.

I was thinking back about some past recruits that committed to MSU and then de-committed. We all know the saga of Mickey D'Amato, Jackson Presley, and Junior Bergen. Unfortunately, D'Amato actually turned out to be a good player that left ....or never arrived.... or whatever. Bergen turned out to be a pretty good player too. Obviously, the story is yet to be told on Presley.

Anyway, I was thinking about another recruit name Major Givens. Major was a good looking RB out of California that committed to the Cats only to flip his commitment later to Weber State. I looked up his stats and he has a whopping 6 yards or 2 carries over his three year career at Weber. He did red shirt one year though and I don't see him listed on the 2026 Weber roster, so he may have given up on football or entered the portal. Anyway. interesting to see how some of these guys turned out.

Lamson certainly does deserve respect and I don't believe Belligerants wasn't being respectful, just posting his opinion on Lamsons NFL potential. He probably could have written it in a nicer way though. In the end, it's still just Belligerants opinion and he has been wrong before and will be again. I hope he is wrong this time too. I see some things in Lamson that are downright frigin awesome and others, like his long throwing motion, that will hurt his prospects. Who knows though, who ever thought this skinny guy would have a decent NFL career as a defensive lineman after not even starting on the defensive line until his senior year of college and playing as a second string linebacker before that.

I agree thinking that Lamson is a really long shot to actually get drafted as a QB. However, I don't think it's out of the question that he could turn some heads with his incredible play making ability, toughness, composure, work ethic, confident proven winner mindset, etc. Also, I'm no expert but from my amateur observations watching a lot of NFL this year, I could name several QBs on NFL rosters that weren't exactly dialed in all season with the dead on accurate long balls. lol

Well who isn’t a long shot coming out of FCS as a quarterback? Carson Wentz was a high pick and pretty good for a few years. It took Warner a long time to develop and work his way to the NFL. I can’t think of very many top three round picks at QB from the FCS. Lance and Wentz.

Doesn't have to be highly drafted or drafted at all. Romo was an UDFA.

Which made him a long shot. Just because you make it eventually doesn’t mean you aren’t a long shot.

I consider anything after the fifth round to be a long shot.

He needs to improve his arm strength and deep ball accuracy. his intermediate game is very good though, he's made some next level throws as a Bobcat.
In addition to that (deep passing ability), if he can recognize pressure and get rid of the ball instead of taking sacks I think he'll get drafted or at least get a free agent tryout. He doesn't have to go deep a lot but just put on film that he has that ability. A few more passes like the one to Lencioni in the Cat-Griz 2.0.

Heck, Oladokun got drafted by Pittsburgh late and eventually stuck with the Chiefs as a back up. I didnt think he was all that great in college. He had one, maybe two, decent years in college with different teams. Kind if lucked into the starting job at SDSU due to injuries. He might never had gotten an NFL shot otherwise. I guess even the experts miss once in a while.

Mellott avoided sacks with his scrambling but took off too early sometimes. He had the speed to make teams pay. Lamson did a good job but not as elusive and Cats seemed to have more reads for him which kept him in pocket longer.
Better off to take the sack than throw picks although sometimes outside picket could have thrown it away.
